We are big fans of weird, unique, cool off-the-beaten path finds along our travels. So today, we would like you to meet Isak, the BRECKENRIDGE TROLL.
Breckenridge Troll
Let me introduce you to Isak Heartstone. He is a 15-foot troll who lives along the side of a short trail in Breckenridge, Colorado. Isak wood love to meet you (see what I did there).
Isak came to life in 2018 thanks to Danish artist Thomas Dambo. He was built for the Breckenridge International Arts Festival, and everyone quickly fell in love with him. Dambo hopes his creative, unique sculptures will bring awareness to recycling and upcycling.
Isak's head was made in Denmark from shelves found in a Copenhagen dollar store. The skin and fur are from scrap wood and pallets he found at the Breckenridge Golf Course and behind various stores. His hair is made of downed tree branches along the path where he currently sits.

Isak has almost 50 brothers and sisters all over the world. Several of them are located in the United States. You can discover them all using the map on Dambo’s website.
How to find the Breckenridge troll
You can easily find the Isak sitting alongside the Illinois Trail. The trailhead is located in the parking lot of the Breckenridge Ice Skate Rink.
The trail is a 0.25-mile half circle. Although it is an easy hike, it is not ADA accessible. The hike and a few other Breckenridge attractions can be seen in the video below.
