How Rving Will Help You Travel WITHOUT Your RV
The title of this blog may have you immediately scratching your head, wondering why you would want to travel without your tiny home on wheels. Well, get ready because today, we will share a few benefits of leaving the RV behind. Be prepared, though. After reading this, you may just want to hop on a plane or drive without the RV.
When we think about RVing, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Most RVers say vast landscapes and mountain views. Those settings are unique, but what if you are ready to enjoy a big city or a destination where RVs just can’t fit? What if you were like us and had a job opportunity in a big city?
After three years on the road, we've found that we enjoy living in a big city occasionally. The opportunity to enjoy city life would not have come easy if we had a sticks-and-bricks with all the responsibilities and costs.
Imagine being able to really soak into a city's scene by fully submerging yourself into the day-to-day rhythm. Walking out your front door right into the heart of the city is an amazing experience. Living full-time in an RV makes it easy to jump into this type of experience.
You may also think a trip to Alaska or Baja, Mexico, sounds fantastic. However, adventuring into the unknown with a 45-foot toy hauler may be less than desirable. We store our RV and hit the road with just our truck during these times.
This leads me to another big question: What do you do with the RV while you adventure without it? This is a great question. We have tried a few different options over the years: storing our RV in a traditional storage unit, storing it at an RV park, and parking it on family or friend’s land. You will find that storing your RV is far less work and worry than closing up a traditional house.
The first time we stored the RV was for my work assignment in New York City. I am thrilled we had that time in the Big Apple as a family. It remains the top pick for places we’ve stayed for all of our kids!
Without our RV, having this ability to travel for extended periods and even for short trips would not be possible. I know I am not alone in saying the responsibility to get a house sitter was overwhelming. Just parking my home and closing it safely has been refreshing.
Living full-time in an RV provides freedoms many people can only dream about. Most people set out to full-time RV to “live life outside the box.” Don’t let RV life stuff you in yet another box. Enjoy ALL the freedoms this life can bring as you discover your favorite new locations!
We would love to hear about trips you have taken without the RV! Please drop your favorites in the comments below! Happy traveling!
